| It's been so long since I logged on to Xanga that I almost didn't remember my password! So I am wondering if anyone knows when it's supposed to be spring outside again?!!? It's sooo cold. I guess I will cherish these days so that in August I can have fond memories of cool weather.
I've been out of town the past few weekends. I had a great time. The first weekend PAFI went to Dallas for a show. We did well at the show and the second day we got to go to SixFlags!! It was a blast. I went on almost all the roller coasters. I didn't go on the SuperMan ride because I just needed to take a break for the wellness of my stomach. It was a long fun weekend and it took me all week to recover and get ready to go to Springfield.
Two wekends ago I spent the weekend with my friends in Springfield. I love that town! I have such fond memories there. :) I think the highlight of the weekend (and this is gonna sound corny, but this is my blog, right?) was walking to church. We parked on one street downtown by the restaurant we ate at for breakfast. Then we walked two blocks over to church. I can't tell you how walking to church ministered to my BigCityLivingMissing soul. In some places people can get places on thier feet! It's amazing. The weekend in SGF, while full, was very relaxing.
Last weekend I continued work on my house... yes, I still own the house and yes, I still don't live there. I'm beginning to believe that I'm not supposed to live there. On Saturday night Lucy, Lisa, Krista, & Mike & I went to see Shooter. (In an ode to Matt Crawford) that movie rocked my face off! I was easily impressed by the accuracy of the shooting scenes. Also some of the Firestarters went to breakfast on Sunday morning to celebrate Easter and that was an encouraging and enjoyable time to celebrate and be with friends.
This weekend... wedding fun!
Now I must go because my cat is starting to bite my fingers.
| Today at work for fun everyone stood out side and watched a truck trying to get unstuck out of the ice on the street. | | |
| I have been trying to think of what to write on here for the past week! Merry Christmas friends and Happy New Year. We continue in the planning for the New Year's Eve Party. I'm excited and I can't wait for the party. It will be a fun way to end this year and begin another. I can't wait for the dancing. I know some of you are not as excited about the dancing, but it will be fun!! The Lord blessed me with a wonderful Christmas. I was able to celebrate with my Dad's family on Christmas Eve. Santa successfully made it to the Baum house for the 57th year. :~) Santa brought me a DVD (Step Up) and a Jordi Labanda notebook. Santa sure does know how to give gifts! On Christmas day we went next door to my grandparents house. My grandma went pie crazy and I think there was a pie for each of us. Then we came home and opened gifts here. Lucy ended up with the most gifts because Jacque and I thought we didn't have enough gifts for her and we overcompensated. Lucy gave me a new pair of shoes and I love them! I'm wearing them right now.
Today I ventured into the shopping world to see about sale items. It was crazy out there. I think people were less stressed than before Christmas.
This week looks to be interesting as I travel to the OSU Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA, Springfield, MO for Joe Miller's wedding, and back here to ICT for the Red Carpet Bash. WoooHoooo!
| James Penguin: A funny Christmas song about a Penguin who is a secret agent for Santa. Tomorrow I'm going to wear my Penguin shirt. And now it's called my James Penguin shirt. But it might be a girl penguin on my shirt so it may not work out. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Tonight is a new episode (I hope) of ER! I can't wait... it's my only scheduled TV time this week. I put up new pics from last weekend on my flickr site... www.flickr.com/photos/melissasadventures The Lord has gone ahead of me this week and provided a lot of peace about recent relationship fun (or not so much fun). I've learned a lot this week out of Numbers 22. We studied it a few weeks ago in Sunday School and Bible Study and it's been relevant in my life this week. I got some Christmas shopping done yesterday. I love to shop online! I don't like shipping costs, but it's fun to just click buttons. I'm still in search of a few more gifts. Well, ok, a lot more gifts. But I work well under pressure of Christmas shopping. It really wouldn't be right if Lucy and I didn't whole Monty & Dil routine. Now, I think Monty just drives the get-a-way car and Dil goes in for the goods. Monty just doesn't like crowds. The weight and misunderstanding of relationships: how can you believe that a relationship is one way and the next day learn it is completely different. I can hardly believe that my perception is so poor that I've made such foolish judgments. So what is the missing factor that throws understanding off? | | |
| "Stewardesses" is the longest word typed with only the left hand and "lollipop" with your right. (Bet you tried this out mentally, didn't you?) No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple.
"Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt". (Are you doubting this?)
Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing. That's something to look forward to......
The sentence: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter of the alphabet. (Now, you KNOW you're going to try this out for accuracy, right?) The words 'racecar,' 'kayak' and 'level' are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left (palindromes). (Yep, I knew you were going to "do" this one.)
There are only four words in the English language which end in "dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous. (You're not doubting this, are you?)
There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: "abstemious" and "facetious." (Yes, admit it, you are going to say . a e i o u) TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard. (All you typists are going to test this out)
A cat has 32 muscles in each ear.
A goldfish has a memory span of three seconds. (Some days that's about what my memory span is)
A "jiffy" is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second.
A shark is the only fish that can blink with both eyes.
A snail can sleep for three years. (I know some people that could do this too.) Almonds are a member of the peach family.
An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. I know a lot of people this could apply to......
Babies are born without kneecaps They don't appear until the child reaches 2 to 6 years of age.
February 1865 is the only month in recorded history not to have a full moon. In the last 4,000 years, no new animals have been domesticated.
If the population of China walked past you, 8 abreast, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction. Horney devils..... Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissors. And you thought he could only paint.... he needed something to cut out paper dolls.
Peanuts are one of the ingredients of dynamite! WOW, just think what they do when you eat them.
Rubber bands last longer when refrigerated. Hmmmm....
The average person's left hand does 56% of the typing.
The cruise liner, QE2, moves only six inches for each gallon of diesel that it burns.
The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket. (Good thing he did that)
The winter of 1932 was so cold that Niagara Falls froze completely solid.
There are more chickens than people in the world. Well I'll be darned, never would have thought of that one.
Winston Churchill was born in a ladies' room during a dance.
Women blink nearly twice as much as men. Well of course.
